Favorite High School Memory:

My favorite high school memory is actually a post high school memory, namely, the incredible bonding among our class that allowed us to always consider ourselves as one class even though we were forced in our senior year to graduate from two separate high schools. The life long contacts resulting from this unity will always be cherished by me.

Other memories include being part of "the three blind mice" (Jobin, Fontaine, and Falkner), the starting backfield on the first Willowbrook football team. sharing the "experience" of having an unnamed classmate lock the keys to the Chevy in the trunk during our day-after prom outing to a local lake, and being in the finals of the 100 and 220 yard dashes in the Illinois State Track meet in Champaign. Unfortunately, I was only the fifth fastest, but at least I received a medal which was better than the poor fellow who finished sixth and last.

What have you done since leaving high school?

Attended Purdue (undergrad) and University of Illinois (grad), taught two years at Hampton Institute (now Hampton University), a school with a primarily black student body, spent three years in post-doctoral studies at Vanderbilt University in Clinical Pharmacology, worked at Pfizer Central Research in drug discovery (Drug Metabolism) and development (Clinical Writing) for 27 years, retired to Sarasota, FL in 2002

Current Interests:

Jo and I have moved to a continuing care retirement facility named Glenridge here in Sarasota. Great place to be with lots of social, athletic, and intellectual opportunities. Retired from 8 years on the Board of the Suncoast Senior Mens Tennis League and many years on the board of the Purdue Club of Sarasota. Still playing tennis and learning to sail model sailboats. Still staying active and attempting to make our 60th HS class reunion a reality.

Most Memorable Experience Since High School:

The most scary memory was driving home in the Blizzard of 1978 after dropping a colleague off in a neighboring town. I could not see the roads and had my first experience with a "I may not survive this" event. A very memorable event was taking my Mom back to Pearl Harbor in 1991 where 50 years earlier she had personally watched the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The memories of that experience were such that she could not bear to visit the memorial of the USS Arizona.

One Thing I Have Done Since High School That Would Surprise My Classmates:

Operating a bulldozer to help Roger DuBrock build a gravel road leading to the site of his new house on his property in the wilderness of the Wrangell Mountains. Talk to Roger for tips on "Learning to operate heavy equipment with a minimum of training".

Things That I Haven’t Done as of 2011, But Would Still Like To Do. Record when you do them plus comments.

Visit the WTC Memorial in NYC (Did that this summer [2012]. Recommend to every American).
Go to the Grand Slam Tennis Tournament at Wimbledon. Not done.
Get a decent forehand in tennis. Not done, but getting there.
Stay tuned.
