Favorite High School Memory:

I was a terrible student, mostly interested in hot rods and cool blondes. I'm certain I graduated near the bottom of the class. In trying his damnest to say something nice about me, one of my teachers remarked "....it's people like Dave who make the upper half possible." Then in the Air Force they made me a nuclear weapons technician! Now, how scary is that?

What have you done since leaving high school?

Air Force 1960-64; Married classmate Marie Wilke, 1962; Boston University 1964-68; Sears Roebuck 1968-69, various PR jobs in Pittsburgh, NYC, Atlanta & Chicago 1969-75; trade publication space sales 1975-81; divorced 1982; ran off to Vermont with my secretary, 1982; bought and operated motel in Killington, VT 1982-88; owned an Orvis store, Rutland,VT 1988-92 (lost my ass on that one); bought and operated Carolina Air Service, Florence, SC 1992-2000; various corporate flying jobs 2000-05; Chief Pilot, BCH Properties, Charleston, SC 2005-2011. Independent contract pilot 2011-present.

Current Interests:

Flying, motorcycles, power boating, sex -- not necessarily in that order.

Middle Name or Initial:

Sumner. Middle name of both grandfathers.

Most Memorable Experience Since High School:

While not pleasurable, divorce is certainly memorable. On the flip side, riding coast to coast on a motorcycle & becoming a pilot are good things.

One Thing I Have Done Since High School That Would Surprise My Classmates:

Pretty much stayed out of jail.

Things That I Haven’t Done as of 2011, But Would Still Like To Do. Record when you do them plus comments.

I've made a career of flying over most of North America. Now, I've recently bought a motorhome and plan to spend a year or two seeing this land from ground level.

Other Comments:

I'm really sorry to have missed our 50th reunion. I had planned to attend, but the boss had other ideas when an important flight came up and I couldn't find a good back-up pilot.

Just wanted to say "Happy Birthday, Barb!" It's been a long time, but I remember you well.

One of the very first girls I ever kissed.
She probably won't remember it; I wasn't much of a kisser!

Born just two days before the end of the year. Just in time for a tax deduction. Good for your folks!

Just spent a wonderful few days w/ Bob and Joyce in Tucson. He and his bride are well and happy. Retirement looks good on them. He has become quite an authority on pre-Columbian art and his home is like a museum to that era. Was really afraid to touch anything fearing I'd break something that was a 1,000 years old. Was really great seeing my old buddy again, even if he has become a tea-totaler. Well, nobody's perfect.

I never thought we'd live this long or I would have taken better care of myself. Obviously you were more sure of yourself. I hope you and Sally have a great day!

Last week we were kids. What happened? How did we ever get to be this old?
